Regulation Matters

Sara Mead is blogging all week at Eduwonk, and you should definitely spend some time reading her stuff.  I was particularly interested in her frank take on the recent Fordham Foundation report on charter school authorizing.  Charters are not a central focus of this blog, obviously, but it’s important to note that the quality of oversight and regulation is incredibly important in schooling, across the board.  My impression is that the bulk of debates focus on the amount of oversight, which is important, but somewhat moot if the quality is bad.
