Promise Neighborhoods and Turnaround

Today the US Department of Education announced the winners of grants to plan new Promise Neighborhoods, in the model of the Harlem Children’s Zone.*

There are a lot of intersections between the Promise Neighborhoods approach and the work of school turnaround, so I thought this would be an opportune time to link to an interview I did a few months ago with the United Neighborhood Centers of America about that interface.

*Full disclosure: I sit on the board of one of the grantees, the Cesar Chavez Public Charter School.
